Dr. Nimet Elif Uluğ

She is the dispute resolution project consultant of ADRIstanbul for local and international public institutions and NGOs. She is one of the founders of AdrIstanbul and Elif, together with the project team of that period, worked as a consultant for the first time in this field for the ”Mediation Service Project for Citizens” with Beşiktaş Municipality between 2015-2016, which is a first in Turkey, continues her studies on conflict resolution and trying peaceful ways in politics in various political and non-governmental organizations.
Uluğ, who started to work as a lecturer in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Boğaziçi University in 1995, is currently at the thesis stage in the Master of Local Governments and Decentralization Program at Istanbul Aydın University. She teaches grammar lessons. Uluğ completed her doctorate in the History Department of Boğaziçi University in 2013 with a thesis titled “Superstitious Faiths in the Ottoman Empire (1839-1922)”. She continues her studies and researches on the resolution of conflicts arising from the ethnic origin, language, political approaches in societies, social peace, and public access to citizens and more effective conflict resolution.

In 2014, her thesis was published as a book by Libra Yayınevi under the name “Superstitious Belief in Ottoman Empire”. In 2017, the book was published by Doğan Kitapçılık with different additions under the name “Batıl İtikatlar and Magic in the Ottoman Empire”. She has been writing columns in Şalom Newspaper called “Düne Bakış” in which she has established actual ties between the agenda and history since 2015 Uluğ, who is especially interested in the history of comparative religions, Islam, and Turkish Islam, works on “Popular Islam” and “Religious Life in the 19th Century Ottoman Empire”. Besides being a doctor of history, Uluğ is also interested in politics and worked as a consultant and press spokesperson for public administrators.
