Welcome to ADRIstanbul Alternative Dispute Resolution Management Platform. In our increasingly crowded, diverse, and trade-intensive world, the number of disputes between parties is rising, and if not managed well, these disputes can cause significant harm. The use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods in the event of disputes is essential for maintaining the pace of development and improvement and for a sustainable society that can easily adapt to global developments. These methods offer facilitating, flexible, enhancing, economical, rapid, ethical, and efficient alternatives to resolve disputes without resorting to legal processes. ADR methods enable parties to understand each other more deeply, grasp their needs and interests, and find common ground, thereby solidifying the foundations of long-term relationships. These processes contribute to more efficient use of resources and strengthen social harmony.

The entry into force of the Singapore Mediation Convention has reinforced the capacity and applicability of mediation, one of the ADR methods, in resolving international commercial disputes. This development adds a new dimension of trust and stability to global business relationships, supporting economic collaborations. For decision-makers, adopting ADR methodologies is not just a way to resolve disputes but also a strategic investment that helps institutions and societies build more agile, resilient, and competitive structures.

The United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include critically important objectives for global development. ADR methods play a significant role in achieving these goals, particularly within the framework of “Partnerships for the Goals” (Goal 17) and “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions” (Goal 16), by promoting solution-oriented dialogue and cooperation through multilateral collaborations and global partnerships. Such partnerships support sustainable development efforts worldwide while enhancing the effectiveness and accessibility of ADR.

Beyond facilitating access to justice, ADR methods are an integral part of a vision for a more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world. I sincerely believe that we must take more conscious and active steps to prioritize these valuable tools in agreements, projects, and collaborations that will shape our future.

As ADRIstanbul, we encourage strategic and multilateral collaborations on the path to achieving global sustainability goals. In this process, we aim to develop sustainable solutions in the early stages, during the execution of tasks, and in conflict situations by prioritizing our ethical and professional principles and establishing cross-sector and interdisciplinary partnerships. It is of great importance to us to be a preventive, developmental, and solution-oriented partner in initiatives, institutions, and projects that are effective in creating a more just and sustainable world. Leading in this field and collaborating with other institutions on this journey is a priority for us.
