The international training program titled “The Mediation System and Practice in Türkiye”, organized in collaboration with Central Asian ADR and the Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC), was held in Istanbul between 13–15 April 2026.
Conducted under the framework of the ISTAC International Mediation Commission and marking its first overseas group training, the program’s design and organization were carried out by ADR Istanbul.
Designed with a strong practical focus, the training addressed the legal framework, institutional structure, and practical implementation of the mediation system in Türkiye, alongside international developments, cross-border disputes, and the integration of arbitration and mediation.
The program covered a wide range of topics, including mediation procedures, mandatory mediation practices, ethics and confidentiality principles, negotiation techniques, party management, cultural dynamics, and gender perspectives. The enforcement of international settlement agreements under the Singapore Convention, as well as arbitration–mediation integration, were also among the key components of the program.
The training was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Erkan, Attorney Mediator Neyir Şeyda Musal, and Ferda Canözer Paksoy, Founder of ADR Istanbul. The program was conducted with the contributions of Elvira Borombaeva, Founder of Central Asian ADR, and Attorney Yasin Ekmen, Secretary General of ISTAC.
During the program, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ISTAC and Central Asian ADR to foster future collaboration. This step represents an important milestone in strengthening institutional cooperation in alternative dispute resolution between Türkiye and Central Asia.
The three-day training and accompanying engagements contributed to the international exchange of Türkiye’s mediation practice and to the advancement of regional collaboration in dispute resolution.
